After watching Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

The book is better of course, but after stating that truth, I'll say the movie was good too. It deviated a bit from the original story line (Burrow does not get burned down?, Bellatrix isn't present when Dumbledore dies? Hermione doesn't actually talk to Harry about Ginny? Harry does NOT flirt with waitresses? Luna isn't the one that finds Harry on the train? All very minor pts..hehee)...One serious complaint I do have of the movie is they actually show Harry hiding at Dumbledore's request while Dumbledore talks to the Death Eaters right before his death? In the book, Harry is actually immobilized by Dumbledore right before, therefore, he isn't able to act\talk...There's no way Harry would hide down below and just twiddle his thumbs? ... they could have changed the spell to be spoken outloud instead of wordless? I don't know...I also thought the movie could have been a bit more emotional about Dumbledore's death...

I have a few more thoughts, and I'll write more later...but over all, I enjoyed the movie. Visually pleasant!! I can't wait for Nov '10!!

I saw it too. I realize the differences, but for some reason none of them bothered me much. They left out a ton of background but it seemed alright in the context of the movie. I think they kept the all the right bits.

For me, it was one of the best HP movies so far. It was so well directed and acted. Tons of subtleties in relationships, I really liked it. And I LOVED Jim Broadbent as Slughorn. I've known his other work, and every time he is a completely different person (he's the same guy who was the Moulin Rouge owner. Insane talent).

So all-in-all I loved the flick (and I didn't mind the waitress one bit. yowza! haha).
