nowadays
It's been awhile since I've written abt anything it seems cept quick movie and quote posts. I guess thats cuz I've just been so busy. Lot going on. Booked some vacations, getting busy at work, hitting the gym regularly. The best part of my life right now even with the lot going on is the peace of it. :) The only thing I have to whine abt is - what is up with the snow on FRIDAY NIGHTS?!!! lol I don't mind it much since I'll be in warmth soon (3 more weeks baby!), but it appears as tho Mother Nature likes Friday as much as we do! :p

excuse me - where can I - where is ...?
Today when I took a lil break from work and went downstairs to get some cough drops and I get asked this question. Not once, twice, but three different times by three different people in a span of 5 mins. LOL. The third person at least stopped mid sentence and said sorry. I'm thinking its my crisp white shirt I got going on today. Very pharmacy lab coat-ish. It was very funny seeing them realize I didn't work there cuz all three of them eventually figured it out...Ah - the joys of reality in real life and not on tv. :)

27 Dresses
Fair warning. A total girl flick. :) So, I'm glad I went with a couple of girls..lol. Else I never would have heard the end of it...Nothing superb abt the movie other than James Marsden and his-oh-so contagious smile. I swear I smile idiotically when he's smiling. And if you're not a fan of his, then def. wait for the DVD. But-perfect for girls night out at the movies...About a girl who is always a bridesmaid and finally it occurs to her that she needs to get it together and finally think of herself and her life and what she wants in life...I like Katherine Heigl.

Feast of Love
Directed by Academy Award winner, Robert Benton. Won this award for Kramer vs. Kramer amoung others. (Older movie before my time I think, but mental note to myself - need to watch it) Morgan Freeman was fantasticccccc....
It felt like a toast to people, life, love, and all types of relationships. Romantic, parental, friendship, you name it it was portrayed in one shape or form. And it was all intertwined throughout the movie with classic poise.
It's so true how many of us, including myself, walk around with certain perceptions about things and people and will assert that its right till we're blue in the face. Yet, unless we're forced to by events or it becoming blatantly obvious, we can't seem to acknowledge that sometimes we forge our own misunderstandings. We see things the way we want to see things. Poor people are lazy, crazy body piercings is a cry for attention, blondes are ditzy, blah blah. Unless we luck out and reality bends to our biases. lol. A character in the movie is sooo in love with love that he seems to see it reciprocated even when its not. Hopeless romantic...unlucky till he finds one that returns his never-ending hope and romance.
Another couple's fate just blew my mind. Poor things. Young and so much in love with one another with so many hopes and dreams in life. Why do bad things happen to people like that - harmless kids...
And yet when God chooses to wave his magic wand, it all works out. Hows that for power. :) No, I'm not bitter (much), and yes I know its a movie, but even in real life - Sometimes unfaithfulness is overlooked (I hate the blonde real estate lady) and even they have another shot at another life...yet that poor young couple is never given that opportunity b/c their fate was final, brutal. Not that I doubt God's judgment, yet there better be a balance even if it means 20 lifetimes later...or rather sequels later..hahaa...I'm angry for them...But, I know Benton and the movie production crew would rather us learn in the very end that we have to suck it up and have faith that the dust does settle eventually. I assume this is the reason for the whole flashback use.
And the best of all --- the love of an older married couple. Ones that have lived for years and years and through it all. The quiet, solid, and experienced love of a long life together. In my opinion, thats the best love of all. And I would give an arm and a leg to have that in my old age. :)
Movie over all was done well. I would only change a few things. Cut out a lot (all) of the skin scenes b/c they were frequent, I personally didn't feel their release as they did in those scenes and I assume thats the reason to use them in the first place. Failed on me. I'm a prude. lol. I would add more depth to the happy scenes. I can see how they wanted to emphasize the sadness more but I can't help it - I like happy. lol
And as Freeman narrates - the "unexpected is always upon us".

...and its how you choose to deal with it and still come out ahead.
Mr. Benton - hows that? :)

life's experience
